October 17: Stand Against Child Abuse, Stand With Children

Each act of witnessing can help hold the line for children.

Today, we took to the streets carrying our concern for children. Through gathering, speaking out, and encouraging one another, participants expressed a shared conviction: when children are harmed and warning signs are repeatedly missed, the system cannot leave behind only regret and apologies.

2026 · 10 · 17The action has concluded. Thank you to everyone who attended, followed, shared information, and kept speaking up.

What we must keep in view

  1. Reports of concern must be received and acted on—not merely written into policy.
  2. Visits and out-of-home placements must genuinely reach children and remain accountable.
  3. Health care, education, social services, and justice must not lose high-risk children between systems.
  4. Individual responsibility and institutional reform both require answers that can be examined.

Standing against child abuse is not limited to one gathering or one case. Today’s action has ended, but the work of protecting children continues. Children should never have to be hurt before adults finally see them.
